Grant allows GI Express to acquire aerodynamic fairings

September 29, 2009 - PRESS RELEASE... The Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality today is announcing the recipients of over $1.1 million in American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) grants. These grants are being allocated across the state for projects that reduce diesel emissions through a federal program called the Diesel Emissions Reduction Act (DERA)...

Grand Island Express received grants totalling $79,800 which will allow the purchase and installation of 100 aerodynamic fairings and 60 nose cone caps on its trailers. Ridge Corporations "Green Wing" aerodynamic fairings weighing less than 200 pounds qualify as an advanced fuel saving device. The Nose Cone trailer system increases mileage 10% in a zero degree wind and 12% in a ten-degree crosswind. The aerodynamic fairings and NoseCone caps are another example of how Grand Island Express strives to be more fuel efficient and ecologically responsible as well as more competitive for our customers.

A natural Santa Claus
'Twas the night before Christmas, with good food and toys, But in Doniphan there was a rumbling noise. Packed full of goodies, boys and girls are in luck As down the street drives a big giant red truck. Who's that at the levers? Is it a big elf? No, it's a man, who goes by the name Ralph. Getchell is his last name, and it's hard not to see that he looks like the man who puts presents under your tree.

On September 11, 2003
Grand Island Express presented the G I Fire Department with a piece from the World Trade Center. A ceremony took place in front of City Hall with Keith Pirnie officially turning over the twisted piece of iron to the GIFD. Jim Springsguth stands in front of the World Trade Center beam where the firemen stack their arms during this dedication as we remember our fallen heroes.

On September 19th, 2003 at the Nebraska Trucking Association's annual convention, our very own Randy Kunze was awarded the "2003 Maintenance Technician of the Year!". Randy is ready and able to help in anyway he can to fix any maintenance problem we may have. No matter how many hours or how hard he has worked, he is always friendly and willing to help.
